“Improving quality of life for all citizens is only possible with everybody breathing clean air, move in a safe and secure environment and have access to vital services from education to jobs as well as receiving goods. Sustainable mobility (walking, cycling, public transport and shared clean vehicles) can enable such a city and can at the same time contribute to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. If we want to tackle climate change we need a ‘Verkehrswende’ for all.”

Holger Dalkmann has over twenty years of experience working in the field of transport, sustainability and climate change. He just joined Agora Verkehrswende as Senior Advisor to lead the international engagement of the institution and create an international strategy. Furthermore, he works as an independent consultant. Til July this year he was the Director at the World Resources Institute of it’s the sustainable mobility program “EMBARQ”, an international NGO based in Washington DC. He is also one of the co-founders of the Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SloCAT) and has been on the SLOCAT board since 2013, where he is one of the driving forces in terms of network development, as well as intellectual and technical input. In June 2016 he became elected Co-Chair of the board. Holger holds a Masters degree in Geography and taught at the University of Duisburg and University of Trier. He has published over 100 articles including the influential Avoid-Shift-Improve concept. Holger is a world recognized expert, and has established a strong network in the fields of transport, sustainable development and climate change cooperating.
